Professor Olusegun Oyeleke Adewoye was born on the 15th of April, 1947 in Ilesa, Osun State, Nigeria and blessed with two (Twin Boys). His secondary education was at the Comprehensive High School, Aiyetoro, after which he traveled to England for a Bachelors Degree in Metallurgy at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. His Ph.D was undertaken at the University of Cambridge, Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science. He is an Inaugural Fellow of the Materials Society of Nigeria – MSN; a Registered Engineer – (COREN – R 3090); a Member, Nigerian Institute of Physics; a Fellow, Royal Microscopic Society, England; Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers; Professional Member, Institute of Metals (GB); and a Professional Member, British Institute of Ceramics. His effort in the scientific and engineering practice has been crowned with some awards and distinctions, for example: • Western State of Nigeria Scholar, 1970-73. • Prizeman, University of Manchester, England 1971. • Federal Government of Nigerian Scholar 1973- 76. • Visiting Scholar and California Institute of Mining Research Fellow Department of Materials and Mineral Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, USA March – Sept. 1981. • National President, Material Society of Nigeria. • Inaugural National President, Materials Society of Nigeria. • Professor,Metallurgical and Materials Engineering,Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile-Ife,Osun State,1989. • Fellow, Nigerian Academy of Engineering • Fellow, Nigerian Academy of Science A sizeable number of post graduate students have been supervised by him; publications have also been made with over 34 of them in the area of science and technology (specifically these papers are in advanced materials, structure and properties of ceramics/dislocation dynamics, nanotechnology etc), and about seven with Techno-Economic consideration.
